A major Christian missionary organization once surveyed their missionaries. Two questions in particular were pretty interesting:
"Before you arrived on the field, did you have a plan?"
"If you had a plan, how much of it would you say you actually implemented?"
When they compared survey responses to productivity on the mission field, this organization discovered that missionaries that had a plan - even if they only implemented part of their plan - actually accomplished more on the field than missionaries that didn't have a plan at all.
